The Lockheed C-5 Galaxy is a large military transport aircraft originally designed and built by Lockheed, and now maintained and upgraded by its successor, Lockheed Martin. It provides the United States Air Force (USAF) with a heavy intercontinental-range strategic airlift capability, one that can carry outsize and oversize loads, including all air-certifiable cargo. The Galaxy has many similarities to its smaller Lockheed C-141 Starlifter predecessor, and the later Boeing C-17 Globemaster III. The C-5 is among the largest military aircraft in the world. Powering the mighty C-5 is the General Electric TF39, a high-bypass turbofan engine. It was the first high-power, high-bypass jet engine available. The TF39 was developed into the CF6 series of engines for the Boeing 747, 767 and many other airliners around the world.
Aero Furnishings took many parts from this once flying engine and turned it into a beautiful conference table utilizing this as the centerpiece. Being almost 8 feet in diameter it was perfect for our clients needs to fit 14 people at one table. At the clients request it was powder coated Red and Black to match their logo and the last we heard, it looks just as good as the day we delivered it.
